How the study works
By taking part, you help us research the conservative treatment of hallux valgus. At the same time, you secure early, free access to the HeyFoot app.
Entirely online – from home
Pre-registration, medical enrolment and all surveys take place digitally. No need to travel anywhere.

Obtain your doctor's confirmation
Your doctor (GP or orthopaedist) confirms on our template that you are suitable for the study.

Online enrolment appointment
In a short video call, our study physician enrols you in the study.

90-day treatment phase
All participants continue their current treatment. Half of the participants additionally train with the HeyFoot app.

Online surveys
At the start, halfway through and at the end of the study, you will receive an online questionnaire from us by email.

Frequently asked questions about the study
When does the study start?
Expected in September 2026. As soon as things get going, we will contact everyone who pre-registered.
What is the doctor's confirmation about?
Before you take part in the study, we need a short medical confirmation that you are suitable for the study. It can be issued by your GP practice or an orthopaedic practice. We provide a matching template for this. We are aware that this involves extra effort. However, the confirmation is necessary so that we can run the study safely and in line with regulatory requirements.
Am I guaranteed a place in the study?
No. Several criteria must be met, which your treating doctor and our study physician assess.
Will I definitely get the HeyFoot app if I take part in the study?
Yes. During the study, half of the participants use the HeyFoot app. If you are in the other group, you will get free access to the HeyFoot app directly after the study.
